Susanne Geske, wife of German teacher Tilman Geske who was killed in Wednesday's attack on a publishing house in the eastern city of Malatya, said that she wanted her husband to be laid to rest in Malatya.

In an interview with the German Deutsche Welle (DW) Radio Channel, Geske said, "I do not hate the murderers. I believe that my husband did not die in vain. His death has a meaning for Turkey and all Christians living in Malatya and in the region."

When asked whether Turkey should be supported in its EU membership bid, Geske said, "I believe that Turkey made a good beginning. Although the mentality should be changed and laws should be put into force, Turkey has made a significant progress so far. During our ten-year stay in Turkey, we observed that many things have changed. But, the freedom of religion should be broadened."

Geske added that she would continue living in Malatya with her children. German teacher Tilman Geske who was killed during Wednesday's attack on a publishing house in the eastern city of Malatya, was laid to rest in Armenian Cemetery in Malatya on Friday.

His wife Susanne Geske, his children Michal, Miriam and Luckas and his relatives attended the funeral.
