Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that "aid societies must help individuals in need regardless of their beliefs, languages and colors.

Speaking at the "1st World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists" in Istanbul, Erdogan noted that philanthropists should approach the needy as humans regardless of who they may be.

"The spirit to help the needy is a common value of humanity above all cultures and beliefs," Erdogan told.

"Showing sensitivity to global problems is no longer the responsibility of only states and related institutions. The high number of needy in the world makes it a requirement for NGOs to fight against problems," Erdogan also said.
