The number of ADSL subscribers exceeded 5 million in Turkey, country's fixed telephone line service provider said on Monday.

A statement by Turk Telekom said the number of subscribers increased remarkably thanks to the company's efforts to make widespread internet use across the country.

It said the number of ADSL subscribers had exceeded 5 million at the end of 2007.

Turkey is among top world countries with highest internet broadband subscribers in 2007, "World Broadband Statistics" report of London-based Point Topic said.
