A Syrian minister said on Wednesday that his country supported Turkish Premier's serving as a mediator with the aim of establishing peace between Israel and Syria.

Speaking to reporters at a meeting organized by Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul, Syrian Culture Minister Riyad Nasan Agha said that Syria welcomed Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan's efforts for mediation.

Agha also said his country had total confidence in Erdogan.

Upon a question on Pentagon's recent disclosure of several photos of a facility located in Syria, recalling that the same was done for Iraq previously, Agha said the photos claiming that Iraq possessed nuclear weapons were disclosed before UN, however, they were proved to be wrong later on.

He said the photos of the facility in Syria were the images of a computer factory.

Agha also said that Syria did not need any nuclear weapons anyway. Syrian minister said more than 1.5 million Muslim people lived in Israel, adding that Syria would never think of using nuclear weapons against this country and killing its own brothers.

Turkish Premier recently travelled to Syria on April 26th to attend the first meeting of Turkey-Syria Economic Forum. During his visit, Erdogan held a series of talks with high-level Syrian officials as well.
