Outlawed PKK separatists fired rockets at a police station in the eastern Turkish province of Mus late on Wednesday, killing a policeman, Turkish news agencies reported.

Three other officers were wounded in the attack on the police station in the centre of Malazgirt town, the agencies added.

The wounded police officers were in good health, Mus Governor Erdogan Bektas said, adding the security forces had launched an operation to hunt down the assailants.

In a separate incident, an explosion hit a freight train in the neighboring province of Bitlis late Wednesday, derailing three carriages, Anatolian Agency reported.

There were no casualties, the agency reported, and added paramilitary police were investigating the incident.

The PKK, considered as a terrorist organization by majority of the international community including the European Union and the U.S., are responsible for than 30,000 people's death for decades.
